integrating nutrition, fitness, sprituality, conscious living, and a little sass

photo 2I searched for a long time to find an amino acid supplement that didn’t contain pure shit. Most BCAA or amino acid supplements contain sucralose or other artificial sweeteners along with a bunch of other unnecessary ingredients.

For a while I was taking a pure amino acid supplement in powdered form which was not so tasty. There are also pills that you can take, but I wanted something that I could sip during my workouts. I also like powders because your body absorbs them more easily than a pill.

Finally, I found this supplement, pure-amino, by betancourt which tastes pretty good and is sweetened with stevia. I like to drink a scoop of this with water and RAW ACV(apple cider vinegar) during my workouts. My strength seriously increases drastically when I use this and the apple cider vinegar makes it taste goods and gives you health benefits of its own. The cheapest place to get this brand is from GNC, especially if you are a member.

What are BCAA’s good for?

  • BCAA’s are branched chain amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, which are necessary to build lean muscle mass and gain strength when exercising. The branched chain amino acids are the essential amino acids that you must get from your diet; valine, leucine, and isoleucine.
  • BCAA’s help reduce muscle breakdown and increase endurance, allowing you to work out harder and longer.
  • They reduce muscle soreness and promote muscle growth.
